Accessibility Statement
Community work only counts if people can actually take part. That applies to this website and to the activities our chapters run.

Our approach
We aim to align this website with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA. We are an early-stage, youth-led initiative and we treat accessibility as ongoing work rather than a finished box to tick.
What we do on this site
- Semantic headings and landmark regions so screen readers can navigate the page.
- Descriptive alternative text on meaningful images.
- Keyboard-operable navigation, forms, and buttons with visible focus styles.
- Colour combinations chosen for contrast, with information never conveyed by colour alone.
- Form fields with visible, associated labels and clear error messages.
- Layouts that reflow on small screens and at increased zoom levels.
Downloadable resources
Our guides and templates are published as PDFs with selectable text and document titles. Some are fill-in forms with table layouts that may be harder to navigate with assistive technology. If you need any resource in an alternative format, ask us and we will provide one.
Known limitations
- Some decorative motion and background effects are used; we honour reduced-motion preferences where the browser reports them.
- PDF tagging in our fill-in templates is basic and is being improved.
- We have not yet completed a formal third-party accessibility audit.
Chapter activities
Chapters are asked to consider venue access, seating, hearing, and reading needs when planning community activities, and to state clearly in event materials how to request an accommodation.
Tell us when we fall short
If you hit a barrier on this site or at one of our activities, email admin@youthconnect.network with the page or activity and what happened. We will respond and, where we can, provide the information another way while we fix the underlying issue.
